Staffed by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. Montgomery Regional Hospital's certifed lactation consultants, provide extensive support to new mothers learning how to breastfeed. Board Certified Lactation Consultants have a strong working knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the breast and lactation, newborn anatomy and physiology, behavioral sciences, developmental stages of infant growth, biochemical properties and immunological aspects of human mik, nutrition, pathology, pharmacology and human milk, development of human attachment, and the effects of environmental toxins.
